Like I promised, here's a preview of a page I did for GI JOE Master and Apprentice II. This appears in issue 3, pg. 1 as shown on the DevilsDue preview website. This issue was published 2-3 months ago so if you want to pick up a back issue, there shoudn't be any problem finding this at your local comicbook store.
Lineart: Chris Stevens
Color: Me (yanimator)!
The funny thing about this page was that I got a scribbled landscape for panel 1 with absolutely no background lineart. So I decided to try something crazy and model a few basic shapes in Maya (3D software), duplicate the shapes like MAD, and rendered it as a flat vector image. Then went into photoshop and textured it and enhanced it with many details (that aren't even visible when printed/resized).
3D in comic books? Yes, and I got away with it. Shhh.
Thank you, it's really good to hear that from you since you're one of the few talented bg painters I've seen on DA so far. You've got some killer speed paintings in your gallery.
